Penland Contracting was formed in 1965 by R. Lewis Penland. The company was involved in the construction of the Blue Ridge Parkway, interstate highways, numerous USACE projects throughout the southern United States and a large scale power line project in Panthertown Valley for Duke Energy. Penland Contracting has also constructed over 40 golf courses throughout the southeast and is still active in utility line construction and maintenance. Penland Contracting has been energetic in adapting to current stream restoration techniques and is enthusiastic about clean water, farm conservation and conservation of wildlife habitat. They are committed to preventing soil erosion and contamination of watersheds and strive to establish and maintain healthy aquatic ecosystems to ensure that all resources are enjoyed for future generations.
